game_the0ry ("we," "us," or "our") operates the game_the0ry platform ("Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Platform. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up via Google or Twitch OAuth, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and account identifier from the OAuth provider. We do not receive or store your Google or Twitch password.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not directly collect or store your full credit card number. Stripe may share limited transaction data with us (e.g., last four digits, billing address, transaction amounts) for order management and fraud prevention.

Creator Information

If you sign up as a creator, we collect additional information needed for payouts, such as your Stripe Connect account details. This may include your legal name, bank account information (held by Stripe), and tax identification if required.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Platform, including pages visited, features used, course progress, IP address, browser type, device type, and referring URLs. We use Vercel Analytics for this purpose.

Content

Creators upload video content and course materials, which are stored on AWS S3. Any information included in uploaded content is stored as part of the course.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Process purchases and creator payouts.
  • Host and deliver course content.
  • Communicate with you about your account, purchases, or platform updates.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the Platform.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Stripe — for payment processing and creator payouts.
  • Google and Twitch — as part of the OAuth authentication flow.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — for video and content storage (S3).
  • Vercel — for hosting and analytics.
  • Law enforcement or regulators — if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of game_the0ry, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, unless we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes. Uploaded course content may be retained as long as the course is published on the Platform.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment data is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies — it collects anonymous, aggregated usage data without tracking individual users. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may affect Platform functionality.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.
  • Request data portability (receive your data in a structured format).
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. International Users

The Platform is operated from the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
